Difference between a necklift and a facelift

Question:
What exactly is the difference between a necklift and a facelift? How do you know if you’re a candidate for one over the other?

Answer:
The difference between a necklift and a facelift is that in a facelift the lower cheeks and jowls are lifted to the position they were in before you noticed that your face was beginning to age.   A necklift is designed to address the skin, muscle, and fat of the neck only.   I have performed many necklifts without facelifts, but, most patients who need a full facelift procedure will also require a necklift in order to balance out the face.  When you are seen for your consultation, your surgeon will be able to help you decide whether you are a candidate for a facelift, a necklift, or both.
