Question:
Where are the incisions made for cheek implants? Are there any noticeable signs of the surgery immediately after it is performed (swelling, scars, etc)?
Answer:
I prefer to place cheek implants through an incision that is made in the inside of your mouth underneath your upper lip above your gum line. The incision heals very nicely and is entirely inconspicuous. Following cheek implant surgery you can expect at least a week of swelling but very little bruising. It is also common practice to place what are called bolsters on the cheeks to hold the implant in place during the early healing phase. These bolsters are removed after a few days but will be noticeable while they are in place.
