Can you perform Rhinoplasty on an African American without scars showing? I want my nostrils reduced and I would like the tip reshaped. I form keloid scars and dont want scars on my face.
Answer:
I can absolutely perform rhinoplasty on an African American woman without scars showing. However, the type of changes that you are looking to make to your nostrils require that incisions be made on the outside of your nostrils in the crease along the side of your face where the nostril meets. Any incision that is made on your face has the potential for scarring. Fortunately, keloid formation on the nose is extremely rare and although ther are no guarantees, the incisions that you have to reduce the flare of your nostrils during rhinoplasty will likely heal imperceptibly.
