I’m a 38 year old mom and I have voluminous thighs with lots of cellulite. Since I want to fix the fat as well as the cellulite, I’ve been thinking about liposuction. Can liposuction fix cellulite as well as treatments specifically targeted to cellulite?

Liposuction is an excellent treatment for excess fat when the patient has optimized their appearance with an appropriate diet and exercise. Liposuction can reduce fat, but, may not be as effective in a situation where there is an enormous amount of fat to be removed. As far as cellulite is concerned, liposuction can help with the appearance of cellulite, but there really is no treatment that is specific for the treatment of cellulite. The lasers that are currently being tauted as cellulite treatments are really only FDA approved as massage devices and have not received approval for cellulite. The studies are sketchy with regards to the permanency of the cellulite reduction and I would caution the consumer before spending a great deal of money on cellulite treatments.
