Question:
I’ve been looking into different wrinkle treatments, so naturally I’ve looked into Botox. I read that Botox stands for a type of toxin. Is it actually safe to inject a toxin into the body?
Answer:
Botox is a form of a toxin. Botulinum toxin A to be more specific. Botox is a paralytic agent that is used to weaken muscles that are responsible for hyperdynamic facial lines and to some degree static wrinkles. Botox is injected into muscle in extremely small amounts. Botox is not intended to be injected systemically and the doses required for a real adverse reaction to occur is several times the amount of Botox that you would receive for routine facial wrinkle injections. You should feel quite safe when receiving your Botox injections and secure that you will likely appreciate the effects the Botox has on your face when injected properly.
