What is a safe age for a child to have ear surgery?

Question:
What is a safe age for a child to have ear surgery?

Answer:
I like to wait until the child is about 5 years of age or older to perform otoplasty surgery. The rationale behind this is that the ears will continue to grow until about the age of 5. Once the ears have reached their adult size otoplasty is safe to have.
