Question:
What type of injectable filler is the longest lasting for diminishing forehead wrinkles? Does this filler have any complications associated with it?
Answer:
Forehead wrinkles are best treated with botulinum toxin such as Botox or Dysport. Once these wrinkles have been appropriately injected with the botulinum toxin then filling the deeper wrinkles with dermal filler can be performed. I prefer the use of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers for forehead injection because of the the relatively thin skin under which the dermal filler is going to be placed. Although there are no risks associated with the dermal fillers themselves the potential risks of having dermal filler injected into the forehead are skin contour irregularities, infection, and vascular injection which can lead to skin necrosis of the forehead.
