Am I having a bad reaction to a chin implant?

Question:
About two weeks ago I underwent a chin augmentation and now I can’t feel the side of my lips and chin. Am I having a bad reaction to the implant? Should I get it removed?

Answer:
One of the potential complications of chin implant placements is temporary numbness of the chin and lip. The chin implant is placed just below the location of the nerve that supplies the chin and lower lip with sensation. It is not a complication of the chin implant itself and removal of the implant would likely be unnecessary. The transient numbness from chin implant placement will resolve in a relatively short period of time.
