Does a cheek lift the jowl?

Question:

I’m interested in having a cheek lift because the cheek and midface area is my main concern. However, I have very slight jowling and was wondering if lifting the cheeks will lift the jowl at all.

Answer:

It would seem that lifting the cheek would also help to lift slight jowling. Unfortunately, I don’t think that this will be the case. I would suggest discussing with your surgeon having a mini facelift performed at the same time as your midface lift in order to appropriately address your jowls. I would not tell you to expect any appreciable resolution of your jowling if only a midface and cheek lift was being performed.
