Having an eyelid lift might not be safe for me

Question:
I have severe dry eye and have been told that having an eyelid lift might not be safe for me. What are the risks of this procedure for someone with my condition?

Answer:
Prior to any eyelid surgery it is important to know about all of your past eye related medical history. Dry eyes is not an absolute contraindication of eyelid surgery however, I would stay a bit more conservative in terms of how much skin I remove during your upper eyelid surgery to make sure that your dry eye symptoms are not exacerbated with eyelid surgery. All other risks of eyelid surgery will be exactly the same as for those individuals without a history of dry eyes.
