Question:
I’m a 38-year-old woman and I’ve been considering getting dermabrasion to help treat my sun damage. I’m concerned about the discomfort I’ll experience though. Is dermabrasion a very painful procedure?
Answer:
Dermabrasion for skin damage is a painful procedure and is best performed under some sort of mild sedation and local anesthetic blocks. I have been extremely happy with laser resurfacing of the face which I feel yields comprable results to dermabrasion with significantly less down time and more rapid healing. The application of Fraxel laser is extremely well tolerated and is performed under topical anesthesia with two to three days of redness following the procedure.
