Is a concave bridge of the nose a common problem with rhinoplasty?

Posted by Dr. Schoenfeld

Question :
On the Real Housewives of New Jersey, one of the housewives looks like she’s had an obvious nose job, like the bridge of her nose is sort of concave now. Is this a common problem with rhinoplasty and how do you avoid it?

Answer :
More than one character on the Real Housewives of New Jersey has had a cosmetic surgical procedure or two. During the time period that the housewife that you are referring to likely had her nosejob was a time when a scooped up very small and petit nose was accepted and desired. The vision of a beautiful and well proportioned nose that patients expect today and surgeons are more likely to create is very different from the operated on look that you are referring to. The best way to avoid that over done look that you are so worried about getting from rhinoplasty is to sit down with your surgeon during consultation and see what their vision of a good nose looks like and express what you don’t want from your rhinoplasty.
