Products that I need to use after my chemical peel

Posted by Dr. Schoenfeld

Question:
Are there any specific products that I need to use after my chemical peel?

Answer:
Depending upon the strength of the chemical peel, different products will be prescribed to you to insure that your recovery is appropriate. Regardless of the strength of the chemical peel, you will be prescribed a hypoallergenic moisturizer that you will use throughout the day. You will also be prescribed gentle cleansers to be used at least twice daily. If you have darker pigmented skin and the chemical peel is medium or stronger, then a hydroquinone to prevent pigmentation issues from occurring may also be prescribed. Finally, if you have had a history of herpetic lesions of the face or lips, an antiviral medication will be prescribed.
