Dr. Philip Schoenfeld is the founder and Medical Director of Renu Med Spa and the Washington Facial Cosmetic Surgery Center of Chevy Chase, Maryland. A board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Schoenfeld has been practicing facial plastic and reconstructive surgery since 1994 and in Washington, D.C. and Maryland since 1998. His private practice includes the Feldman ENT Group (Washington, DC, Chevy Chase, Bethesda, and Germantown, MD). He also holds hospital privileges at Sibley Memorial Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital (Washington, DC), Childrens National Medical Center (Washington, DC), and the Washington Hospital Center (Washington, DC).

I was reading through some of our older posts and noticed that I reference many different lasers that we use and was thinking that it might be confusing to you as the reader to know which one does what? So Here is a little Laser 101: Acne: We started with the Aesthra PPX and upgraded to the Isolaz in 2007 which is the only laser FDA approved for the treatment of acne. We have now upgraded again to the Isolaz Profusion! BLOG POST: New Skin for the New Year - part three!

With my skin freshly exfoliated from my microdermabrasion last week, I decided it was time to take the plunge and have a Fraxel laser treatment. My goal being to remove some sun damage before it has a chance to turn into skin cancer (I was a sun worshipper, tanning blanket and all), reduce fine lines, even out my skin tone and maybe get a little tightening out of it too. The treatment starts with having a numbing ream applied to your face and then relaxing with a magazine for about an hour. I actually walked around the med spa and chatted with our clients about the Fraxel and other skin care services I have planned. Then it was time for the real treatment to start. BLOG POST: New Skin for the New Year - part two!

After days of arctic weather and several holiday parties Jenny and Dawn decided that a Microderm-facial would be the best choice for my skin... exfoliation, extractions, hydration and brightening!... and of course a light shoulder massage which had nothing to do with my skin but felt great! (I need to schedule a full body massage with Jason ASAP!) Dawn started my service with a nice cleans, steam and light extractions. I took some time off from our blog and was dabbling in some other social media but by popular demand, I am back! I will still post on our facebook fan page…if you are not a “Fan” you should be…I often post crazy “fan-only” specials. January is definitely the time to get your skin back on track, or get it in shape for the first time, get rid of unwanted body hair, relax your frown lines…you get the picture.
