I recently heard about a procedure where fat can be transferred to fill in the dark circles under the eyes. Is this procedure safe and effective? Does it look natural?
Answer:
Autologous fat can be injected into many areas of the face to help with hollowing. The area underneath your eyes is an area that can be injected with fat to help decrease the hollowness and decrease the appearance of your dark circles. I would be extremely cautious when injecting fat into the area beneath your eyes as most patients who have had an issue with fat injections to the face will have issues with the area around their eyes as this area is very unforgiving. Having said that, the addition of fat to your face and around your eyes is extemely natural in its appearance.
