I am a 25-year-old man with what I consider to be a very weak facial profile. I am considering a chin implant procedure, but I would like to know what the chin implant is composed of, and how likely is it that my body will reject the implant.

Chin implants come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials. The materials which are used as chin implants are all FDA approved for implantation purposes and the risk of the body rejecting the implant is extremely small. The biggest reasons for implant rejection are poor chin implant placement and infection which occurs at the time of chin implant placement. I prefer to use chin implants which are made of silastic, which is hardened silicone. The silicone is not recognized as a foreign substance by the body so the risk of extrusion is minimal.
