I’m a 50 year old female and I got a blepharoplasty two days ago. My vision is still really blurry! I was told this would happen right after surgery, but I’m getting scared now. How long is blurred vision supposed to last after a blepharoplasty?

There are a number of reasons for blurred vision to occur following blepharoplasty surgery. The first and most obvious is that the eye ointment you have likely been prescribed will blur your vision for many hours after its application. More commonly is that the conjunctiva covering your eyeball has slight swelling or chemosis. The outer layer of the eyeball is very delicate and during blepharoplasty the eye is protected with protectors. Even minimal pressure on the conjunctiva can lead to swelling of this layer and it is an extremely common occurrence following blepharoplasty. Two days post blepharoplasty is quite acceptable for this to occur but, you should call your surgeon for reassurance.
