I’m a 24-year-old woman, and I just had a baby a year ago. The fat on my tummy still won’t come off and it’s very frustrating. I’ve been considering a tummy tuck, tumescent liposuction, and laser lipolysis. Laser lipolysis sounds the best, but I also want my treatment to be effective. Is laser lipolysis as effective as a tummy tuck for improving the look of the stomach?
Answer:
I have been extremely impressed with the results that I have been able to obtain with the use of laser lipolysis for removal of fat and tightening of the skin in the abdomen and flanks. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with the use of tumescent solution. Having said that, if you are a candidate for a full tummy tuck procedure, then there really is no liposuction substitute for the procedure. I have, however, been able to perform laser lipolysis on patients with excellent skin tightening who understood that there is a difference in results with a tummy tuck procedure, but were unwilling to undergo the much larger tummy tuck procedure and have been extremely happy with their laser lipolysis outcome.
