Question:
I had a dog bite when I was a child. The scars are still visible. What procedure do you use for scar revision? Can this be done in the office?
Answer:
The procedures that I would employ to revise your scars would depend upon the location of the dog bite scars and the appearance of the scar. Excision of the previous scar would likely be necessary. Meticulous closure of the incision with the incisions placed into natural inconspicuous skin creases would also be necessary to give you an optimal result. Laser resurfacing or dermabrasion following the surgical scar revision may also be required after several months of healing to complete the scar revision.
