Question:
I had a very bad nose job last year and have hated my nose ever since. It looks pinched in at the tip. I am worried that surgery in the same area could cause permanent damage to my nose (Im thinking Michael Jackson here). How long should I wait before I can have you fix my nose?
Answer:
I am sorry to hear about your nose job outcome. I perform a great deal of revision rhinoplasty. An overdone nose is the primary reason why people seek revision surgery. I can also understand that once burned, twice shy. However, the description that you have provided with regards to your nose sounds like you will need cartilage grafts added to your nose rather than removing more tissue, which is the case in Michael Jackson’s nose. Your question with regards to permanent damage is a good one in that the more surgery you have the more scar tissue you will accumulate. However, I feel confident that we can remedy a great deal of the issues that you have with your nose without causing any permanent damage to the appearance or function of your nose. If it has been a year since your prior rhinoplasty then you can safely proceed with revision rhinoplasty surgery as there will likely be no further favorable changes to your nose from your first surgery.
