Question:
I often notice spas and clinics offering microdermabrasion. I would rather have a professional do it. I have a raised scar on my neck that I would like smoothed. Is microdermabrasion the recommended procedure for this?
Answer:
I am a big fan of microdermabrasion for specific indications. We use a medical grade microdermabrasion system but, it is not really indicated or effective for reducing the prominence of hypertrophic (raised) scars that appear on your neck. A scar revision or perhaps a laser procedure for the scars would work best.
