Question:
I’m 42, female, and my cheeks have started sagging. I’m interested in having cheek implants put in to combat this, however I’m a little concerned about how thin my skin is. Since I have thin skin, will the shape of the cheek implants obviously show underneath my skin? I don’t want everyone knowing I got them!
Answer:
One of the more challenging cases is to place cheek implants into a person with thin skin. The cheek implants look best when they are covered by a thick soft tissue envelope that includes skin, muscle, and facial fat. In situations where the skin is thin and the patient desires cheek and mid face enhancement, I have been using autologous facial fat injections alone or in combination with cheek implants in order to achieve a more natural result. The autologus fat injections really help to sculpt, smooth, and soften an area of the face that has high visibility.
