Question:
Im a 46-year-old woman and Ive been thinking about getting laser skin resurfacing treatments for my wrinkles. I have marionette, forehead, laugh, and undereye wrinkles I would like to treat. Ive heard, though, that getting laser skin resurfacing could make the bags under my eyes look worse! Is this true?
Answer:
Laser skin resurfacing will absolutely help with facial wrinkling. What laser skin resurfacing will not do is alleviate the marionnette lines and some of the lines around your eyes and forehead without the concurrent use of Botox or Dysport. In terms of making the bags underneath your eyes worse, I cannot say that I have ever seen that happen with the use of laser skin resurfacing. It may be that you are also a candidate for lower lid blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) to help get rid of the bags you have described. Getting rid of the wrinkles beneath your eyes may accentuate the appearance of the bags if there is a considerable amount of fat herniation.
