Will a chin augmentation affect my ability to eat?

Posted by Dr. Schoenfeld

Question:
I am going in for chin augmentation / implant next week. I know that I’ll be in a lot of pain after the surgery. Will this affect my ability to eat?

Answer:
Chin implant surgery is uncomfortable, but, it is not particularly painful. Your ability to eat will only be affected by the amount of swelling that you have following surgery. However, to help make sure that your chin implant does not become displaced, I would suggest sticking to a soft diet to reduce the motion of your chin following implant placement for about a week.
